This week in Austin. SXSW! Check out the Armed Forces Entertainment Booth. This image and other’s in the series are part of the booth graphics, designed by Roger Christian of Roger Christian & Co. Roger’s Design firm is truly world class. Producing award winning work is the rule and not the exception. With Roger’s art direction, we produced these wonderful images. Aquaterra again. This ad includes the only image in the campaign that I originally shot for another client and is in my stock photo library. The ballet dancer at the Texas State Capitol was shot for the ad agency GSD&M for their client Ballet Austin. It worked well for this particular application, showing that the “arts” are always nearby. The adjacent shot I captured at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden in Austin.
This image was a location test for the Aquaterra jogging image. The location with the “long shot” image below was used instead.
Another in the Aquaterra series. The image on the left is shot from near the future location of the Aquaterra developement ( On top of the Austin, TX Chamber of Commerce building). The jogger image , I shot at the hike & bike trail. This shot I staged, shooting it from the water, with my crew members and Stacy Holland on the boat and the trail near our runner with walkie talkies for coordination.
Okay, here is the next piece in the series. Since Aquaterra is not built yet, locations were scouted to show what the negative edge pool and view will be like on the roof of the 20 story condo. I shot the swan at Red Bud Isle. Again, working with the talented firm of Stacy Design.
These two shots are part of a campaign for Aquaterra, a 20 story condo development in Austin, just south of Town Lake. I shot the water scene on the Lamar bridge. The magazine ads and direct mail pieces were designed by Stacy Holland of Stacy Design. Stacy is a wonderful designer with a great staff. We had a great time working together, shooting lots of great images for Aquaterra. More of this campaign to follow.

A great day of shooting for Fuddruckers and KooKooRoo.
Last week we did this food shoot with creative director Eric Sutherlund of the Austin-based design firm Fosforus. These guys are real creative pros. Eric is a creative genius, and great to work with. Also, highly acclaimed corporate chef Bill Gillen of Fuddruckers was at the shoot. Bill created these recipe’s for their west coast restaurant, KooKooRoo. We did this shoot in my 3,000 square foot studio in Austin.
I’ve been working on this CD cover for my good friend and popular Austin, Texas musician Patterson Barrett. It’s a work-in-progress. Next week we should be doing the photography for the inside cover. Keep your eyes open for this amazing CD, it should be released in the next month or so. Speaking of good friends, one of the best, Patrick Cavan Brown, did the compositing of images & retouching (digital art) on this CD cover. His talents are wide and varied.
